The Trinity – Deep Dive
Videos
About
The Trinity envisions the meeting of a young Frida with the Mad Hatter and the Pussy Cat in Wonderland.
Skye reimagines the Mad Hatter as a spider monkey referencing Fulang-Chang, Frida Kahlo’s pet spider monkey.
Imagery
A young Frida appears in the center of the painting identified by her monobrow.
The use of cuddly pop iconography symbolizes a safe place as pop images are recognizable and comforting.
Mushrooms symbolize the surreal; what is seen is possibly a dream in the narrative.
The flowers are Skye’s signature stylized flowers implementing the use of color and color theory.
Frame
The modernized tabernacle frame uses simple trim to decorate the sides and a classic egg-and-dart decor in the crown.
Again, the pop icon Totoros appear painted around the frame representing safety.
