Smiles is Skye’s re-interpretation of the Cheshire Cat from Alice’s Wonderland. He guides Frida to her next destination and symbolizes absurdity and unpredictability.
Skye renders that infamous smile as a mask for her version of the Cheshire Cat.
Bright flowers float fantastically behind the cat defying gravity and reality.
Imagery
The Cheshire cat hugs and finds comfort in the pop icon of Frida in an ironic twist.
The smile mask reminds us what is on the surface may not be what it seems.
Frame
This modernized version of the tabernacle frame utilizes the dentil styling in the crown.
The smile mask is repolicated amongst Skye’s signature flowers.
The red-capped mushrooms reminds us this is surreal and unreal.
