About

The Tea Party is a play on Alice in Wonderland with a young Frida attending the tea party. In attendance are the white rabbit, the Mad Hatter, and a guinea pig whom Skye invited because it’s one of her favorite animals.

With an assortment of treats, they are enjoying their tea together in a peaceful setting.

Imagery

Skye uses pop iconography especially the cute huggable and cuddly toys from our past and present.

Skye’s commentary is these are universally recognized in our pop culture items and thus represents safety and security.

Again, the red-capped mushroom symbolize the surreal and dreamlike state of the image.

Frida is represented with Mexican inspired fashion and her monobrow.

As a young Frida, unscarred by physical pain, her dream state is serene, beautiful, and innocent.

Frame

Skye creates a modernized version of the tabernacle frame, full of color, exuberance, imagery, and sculpture.

The slice of cake in the crown of the frame was hand crafted using polymer clay over a foil armature weighing slightly over seven ounces.

The wooden red-capped mushrooms on the gold podiums were purchased on Amazon.com.

Faux wooden columns, crafted from halved cylindrical wood poles, are adorned with clay floral torii decorations.

The Totoro characters figuratively secure the columns supporting the tabernacle top.

Flower imagery are Skye’s signature painting item, adorning both painting and frame.
